Idaho Paystub Generator

Idaho changed its withholding tables halfway through 2026. The Idaho Child Tax Credit expired, so from late July the allowances employees claim on the ID W-4 no longer lower their state withholding and many workers now see a slightly different Idaho line than they did in spring. The tax rate itself stays a flat 5.3%. This generator builds an Idaho stub with the state tax, FICA and every deduction listed, the statement Idaho Code 45-609 requires each pay period.

Why Idaho Employers and Workers Use Online Paystub

Idaho payroll is simpler than most: one flat 5.3% rate, no city or county wage tax and no state disability or leave premium. What employees do need is a statement of every deduction each pay period and with the July 2026 table change, a stub that shows exactly what was withheld is the easiest way to spot the difference. Construction crews in Boise, food processors in Twin Falls and ski resorts around Sun Valley all use the same format.

Online Paystub prepares that stub at weekly, biweekly, semimonthly or monthly frequency. Preview it free and download the PDF for a lender, a landlord or your payroll records.

Idaho Withholding Changed in July 2026

On July 31, 2026 the Idaho State Tax Commission announced revised withholding tables, dated July 23, 2026. The Idaho Child Tax Credit has sunset and because the credit is no longer in effect, the allowance amount in the tables is now zero. Employers use the new tables going forward and do not have to recalculate earlier 2026 paychecks, according to the Tax Commission's announcement.

  • Before: each allowance for a child on the ID W-4 reduced Idaho withholding.
  • Now: allowances have no effect, so employees who claimed them may see a larger Idaho line.
  • Unchanged: the 5.3% rate, set by Idaho Code 63-3024 since the 2025 cut from 5.69%.

How Idaho State Tax Is Calculated on a Paycheck

The July 2026 percentage method is a single step once wages are annualized:

  1. Multiply the period's wages by the number of pay periods in a year.
  2. Subtract $16,100 for single filers or $32,200 for married filers.
  3. Multiply what is left by 5.3% and divide by the number of pay periods.

For a $1,760 biweekly check: ($1,760 × 26 − $16,100) × 5.3% ÷ 26 = about $60.46. Bonuses paid separately are withheld at a flat 5.3%. The ID W-4 still asks for filing status (single, married or married but withheld at the single rate), which decides whether the $16,100 or $32,200 amount applies.

No Local Tax or State Payroll Premiums

Idaho cities and counties do not tax wages and Idaho has no state disability or paid family leave premium. Unemployment insurance is paid entirely by the employer, on the first $58,300 of each worker's 2026 wages. So a correct Idaho stub shows federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare and Idaho income tax, plus any voluntary deductions such as health insurance or a 401(k).

What Idaho Law Requires on a Pay Statement (Idaho Code 45-609)

Idaho Code 45-609 requires employers to give each employee a statement of the deductions taken from wages for every pay period in which deductions are made. Willfully failing to do so is a misdemeanor. The same section only allows deductions that are required by law or authorized by the employee in writing. At hire, Idaho Code 45-610 also requires employers to tell employees their rate of pay and their regular payday.

A stub that lenders and landlords accept goes further, with gross pay, hours, net pay and year-to-date totals. The short labels on each line are covered in the standard list of pay stub abbreviations.

Responsible Use of Pay Stubs

A pay stub records wages that were actually earned and paid. Use it to document real payroll or to show a lender your gross monthly income backed by deposits and a W-2. Idaho contractors should keep pay stubs for independent contractors, which show no withholding. Falsifying income documents is fraud under Idaho and federal law.
